The original elara.4 was celebrated for its versatility, capacity for exploration, and indelible analog character, but the masterminds at Union Audio knew this was only the beginning. Enter the elara.4 MK2 4-channel mixer. This pliable powerhouse emerges from Union Audio’s diligent engineering, taking careful note of what DJs favored about the last-gen model and — more significantly — what could be improved. The elara.4 MK2’s analog-fueled architecture returns, expanded to empower sonic odysseys that reach even further into the evolving landscape of the mixing arts. Its flexible array of connectivity options now includes Phono- and Line-level stereo-input pairs for every channel, while Channel 1 adds a 3-pin XLR microphone input. For DJs, the most creatively enticing enhancement is the revamped crossover-frequency control, replacing the first generation’s recessed knob with a front-mounted control — end-users spoke, and Union Audio answered the call. With a wealth of onboard sonic-contouring tools, Innofader crossfader, and an endless array of mixing modularity to traverse, the Union Audio elara.4 MK2 gives you the gamut of its precursor’s performance power, with even more to explore and elevate your mixing.
Revamped crossover control and razor-sharp contouring
In addition to the connectivity upgrades for the elara.4 MK2, the 4-channel DJ mixer features an expanded palette of performance potential. Following reports that users of the original elara.4 were wielding the crossover-frequency control for live sound shaping, Union Audio elected to front-mount a dedicated control, placing hands-on sweeps and evocative flourishes easily within reach. But this creativity-focused shift is more than improved tactility; the Master EQ and Isolator circuit have been retuned with a wider Q value, allowing for increased precision and diversity in how you blend and weave tracks across the Isolator’s 3-band EQ.
Per-channel shaping with exacting precision
Across its 4-channel analog architecture, the elara.4 MK2 arms DJs with flexible yet focused control. Each channel features a 3-band EQ, Trim controls, and a 10-LED VU meter for real-time monitoring, alongside per-channel highpass filters, robust channel faders, and selectable pre- or post-fader auxiliary sends. Moreover, the redesigned Q-value structure of each channel’s HPF rises with the filter’s cutoff frequency, ensuring low-end frequencies aren’t disproportionately boosted as you carve iconic filtering throughout your mix.
Versatile cue controls and masterful malleability
With the expanded performance possibilities afforded by a 4-channel design, Union Audio outfitted their elara.4 MK2 mixer with a suite of flexible cueing and Master-level tools, including split-cue and add-mix controls, as well as pre-fader monitoring with each channel. The Master output’s 3-band EQ is supplemented with an isolator circuit that features adjustable crossover behaviors from 150Hz to 1kHz, going from full kill to a +6dB boost. Combining all of this with the variable crossfade contour of the onboard Innofader crossfader results in a voltaic arrangement of detailed mixing, sculpting, and blending opportunities.
Connectivity for all
The masterful ergonomics and satisfying tactility of the elara.4 MK2’s uniquely compact 1.2mm Zintec chassis are complemented by an equally versatile I/O suite, thereby maximizing interoperative integration and creative potential. Each channel features dual stereo-RCA input pairs, including both line-level and RIAA options, along with dual 1/4-inch TRS inputs. This setup provides uncompromising control over Master Insert and Auxiliary Return use. Auxiliary and Booth outputs comprise 1/4-inch TRS stereo pairs, joined by a dedicated RCA Record Out pair, 3-pin XLR Master Out, and the added 3-pin microphone input. Furthermore, the mixer’s PCBs are intentionally mounted at 90-degree angles to the front panel, safeguarding your sound and nearly eliminating crosstalk by preventing pooling in the event of a liquid spill — an unfortunately all-too-common dilemma for DJs.
