Behringer Neutron je polmodularni in parafonični sintetizator v namiznem formatu. Sintetizator ima 2x analogna oscilatorja, ki temeljita na legendarnih čipih CEM3340 Douga Curtisa. Poleg tega so na voljo multimode VCF, 2x ADSR ovojnice, LFO s 5x valovnimi oblikami in delay, ki temelji na tehniki bucket brigade delay. Na desni strani je matrika z 32x CV vhodi in 24x CV izhodi, s katerimi je mogoče prekiniti notranjo napeljavo za integracijo Neutrona v modularna okolja sintetizatorja Eurorack. V Behringer Neutron sta bila vgrajena 2x CEM3340 čipa. Ti oscilatorji so bili uporabljeni v klasičnih sintetizatorjih, kot so Roland SH-101 ali Jupiter 6, Moog Memorymoog ali Oberheim OB-8 in OB-Xa. Čipe je mogoče krmiliti neodvisno in imajo 5x valovne oblike: Tone Mod, Square, Sawtooth, Triangle in Sine. Med valovnimi oblikami je možno brezhibno prelivanje. Večmodni nevtronski filter ima naklon 12 dB/okt in visoko/nizkoprepustni izhod. Če je filter dovolj obrnjen, ga lahko spravite v samonihanje. Poleg tega je večmodni VCF nevtrona mogoče dodatno modulirati z eno od dveh ADSR ovojnic. Tako njegova funkcija daleč presega funkcijo običajnega filtra. Behringer Neutron je opremljen z obsežno patch matriko, ki omogoča prekinitev notranjega predhodnega ožičenja in daje sintetizatorju lasten individualni pridih. Ena od posebnosti patch matrixa je funkcija sample & hold z dodatnim drsenjem, ki zagotavlja še več kreativnosti.

Flexibility on par with many fully modular synths

Behringer's Neutron is a semi-modular synth, which means it features a normalled signal path that will produce sound without any patching. But when you're ready to roll up your sleeves and get serious, start throwing patches and let the creativity begin. Where most semi-modulars offer some degree of patchability, Neutron's 56-point patchbay offers flexibility on par with many fully modular synthesizers. In essence, you're wiring up the signal paths of your synth, overriding the manufacturer's choices with patch cords that can connect to patch points within the instrument, or externally to other gear.

Value-packed analog beast

An original design from Behringer and the propellerheads at Midas in England, Neutron is an all-analog beast; even the onboard delay is a BBD (Bucket Brigade Device). The voltage-controlled oscillators use the reissued Curtis CEM3340 chip — originally deployed in classic 1970s synthesizers such as the OBXa, OBSx, OB8, SH101, Jupiter6, and Prophet5. Legendary company, indeed. Our advice: Behringer's Neutron sounds tremendous and offers a mind-boggling degree of sonic versatility. Plus, it's an incredible value. And it's red. Don't even think about it — you need it.
